In the article of the Turkish edition "Today Zamanish" is described reasons of people's upset of May month in Abkhazia (critics of rule of the President Aleksandre Ankvab, tough economic condition),its results (President's resignation) and the Presidential elections in August - election of Raul Khajinma as President (author Hasan Kanbolati), reports GHN.
The publication reads that "the Republic of Abkhazia as independent and sovereign state is recognized only by several states. It is considered that number of Abkhazians in Turkey exceeds two times number of Abkhazians in Abkhazia. In spite of the fact that Turkey and Abkhazia have no official political contacts, states are connected not only by geographic proximity but also have strong economical relations. It means that for Turkey Abkhazia is important region. Elected President Rul Khajinba is not waiting for recognition of independency of Abkhazia from Turkey, but he wants development of transport communications, widening human contacts and economic relations. He wants to visit Turkey and to have negotiations with the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan even not officially. There are hopes that this meeting that is expected will be held in upcoming months.
During 2013 Turkey-Abkhazian trade level exceeded 600 million dollars. It is clear that these data are not fixed of official documents (Abkhazian trade documents), but is fixed in statistics of cargo movement between Turkey and Russian Federation through Sochi port. Turkey receives coal and wood from Abkhazia and Abkhazia receives from Turkey food staples, textile and building materials. Turkish cargo ships that carry cargo from Abkhazia use Istanbul and Samsun port; besides Turkish import in Abkhazia is carried out through Sochi-Sukhumi way. There are many Turkish representatives of Turkey in Sukhumi.
Turkish companies also invested in Abkhazian building and agricultural sectors of Abkhazia. At the same time number of Abkhazians in Abkhazia grows - Abkhazians who came from Turkey and Syria brought more dynamism in historical homeland.
