Special Operative Department of the Interior Ministry have arrested the members of an organized racketeer gang Grisha Komakhidze and Levan Ghviniashvili, who in alliance with yet unidentified people, kidnapped the head of the international drug transit network in Georgia, Nugzar Bochorishvili and his ally, Giorgi Chechelashvili. Grisha Komakhidze and Levan Ghviniashvili were aware about the involvement of Bochorishvili in the drug trafficking activities and demanded 250,000 EURO for covering his business, otherwise, threatened with murder. To intimidate the hostage, the two burnt down the house of Bochorishvili in Kojori.
Bochorishvili paid 10,000dollar to the kidnappers and left for Spain, convincing them that he would send the rest of the ransom from abroad. In Spain, Bochorishvili met with the crime bosses Shakro Kalashov and reported the details of the abduction, Kalashov in his turn contacted the kidnappers via their ally Alguja Gurchiani, to give up pressure on Bochorishvili. Consequently, the two were forced to give up the racketeering.
Komakhidze and Ghviniashvili may face 25-year sentences.
