Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, met the commander in chief of the United States Marine Corps, General James Amos. The two sides discussed the main aspects of the US-Georgia Strategic Partnership and relationship between the two countries, reports GHN based on Press Center of Prime Minister.
According to the head of the government, the United States is the main strategic partner of the country. He thanked Gen. James Amos for the strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty from the United States'. He said that Georgia has also greatly appreciates the financial support of the United States.
The meeting focused on current NATO summit in Wales and there was expressed the hope that Georgia will receive the Enhanced Cooperation Package from the Alliance, which aims to increase the capacity of Defense of Georgia.
The sides discussed prospects of enhancing cooperation in the defense field. It was noted that soon the Minister of Defense of the United States, Chuck Hagel, will visit Georgia, which is another confirmation of friendly support from the United States.
Conversation also focused on regional security issues, including the current crisis in the Ukraine.
