Russia plans to cut the numerical strength of its Black Sea fleet in Sevastopol due to the financial problems in the defence funds of the federation - Defence Minister Anatoly Serdiukov said at the Upper House of the Russian Parliament at a session in Moscow Wednesday. He said he was going to discuss the matter with his colleague in Ukraine, which leases the Sebastopol base.
Serdiukov said the Black Sea Fleet required serious funds, which the Russian Defence funds could not cover, however, Serdiukov did not specify how many soldiers would be dismissed from service after the fleet staff is reduced.
