In the frame of the visit if US Secretary Defense in Georgia Chuck Hagel and the Minister of Defense of Georgia held press conference, reports GHN.
The Minister of Defense of Georgia and US Secretary General summarized discussed issues and answered questions of representatives of media.
As Chuck Hagel stated that Georgia is loyal partner of NATO, accordingly NATO actively supports reforms of Georgia implemented for modernization of the sphere of defense. Alliance will support Georgia on the way of integration in Euro Atlantic structures.
Hagel paid attention to the package on enhanced collaboration that Georgia received on NATO Wales Summit. He stated that in this format Georgia will be able to be prepared for the membership of NATO:
"Enhanced collaboration package covers the directions as are strengthening defense possibilities, activation of military trainings and more intense relations with NATO. From five aspirant countries only Georgia received new package of collaboration."
Chack Hagel also talked about deepening collaboration between NATO and Georgia, especially when the President of Russia Putin acts irresponsibly and dangerously in Eastern Ukraine. The Secretary of Defense stated that military confrontation in Ukraine is serious challenge for United States of America and for Europe. He stated that United States calls for Russia to withdraw its troops from the occupied territories of Georgia.
"Russian military aggression in Ukraine creates danger for stability of the region. Several years ago Russia also violated internationally recognized borders of Georgia. United States of America calls for Russia its troops to leave the occupied territories of Georgia."
