Last night Mikheil Saakashvili in the TV program "Podrobnosti Nedeli" of TV Company "Inter" talked about cease-fire in the zone of anti terrorist operation and drew parallels between Ukraine and Georgia. He underlined that Russia cannot be trusted, reports GHN.
"The experience of Georgia shows that promises of Putin and Russia cannot be trusted. We remember 1990s and bitter Abkhazian lessons. I attended the singing of the agreement between Eduard Shevardnadze, Boris Eltsin and Abkhaz separatists. We signed agreement and flew to Tbilisi and after three or five weeks we lost whole northern part of Abkhazia because separatist and Russia ignored the agreement. After 1993, taking into account the fact that Georgia didn't have serious armed forces, enough weapons and reserves we were forced to sign the agreement about principles of solving the Georgian Abkhazian conflict in Sochi with participation of Russia. After this Georgia took back from Abkhazia its military units and big part of artillery with the hope that due to the agreement the sides would do the same. Nearly after one month (Abkhazians and Russians) begun to attack Sukhumi and as a result of this we received half million refugees and big tragedy. We lost control on very important region of Georgia,' stated Mikheil Saakshvili.
On the question how long the cease-fire agreement can last ex-president stated that everything is depended on tasks of Vladimer Putin. "He wants to control Donbass that meant capturing Slaviansk and Severodonetsk. Besides the President of Russia has one more plan: he wants to create corridor with Crimea."
