The fourth informal Eastern Partnership dialogue is held in Baku on the 9th of September 2014. The meeting is attended by the Georgian delegation led by the Foreign Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze, reports GHn based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The EU delegation is represented by the European Commissioner for EU Neighborhood policy and EU Enlargement, Mr Štefan Füle; the Deputy Secretary-general for the European External Action Service, Ms Helga Schmid; and the Vice President of the European Commission responsible for energy Guenther Oettinger. Delegations of all the countries involved in Eastern Partnership are also present at the meeting.
During fourth informal Eastern Partnership dialogue the Foreign Ministers assessed the progress that has been achieved in terms of the implementation of the initiative focusing on the plans for the Riga Summit scheduled to take place in 2015. Special attention was paid to the importance of further development of Eastern Partnership and to the challenges faced by the region. The Georgian Foreign Minister addressed the meeting focusing on the implementation of the Association Agreement and on the Georgian Government's plans for the forthcoming Riga Summit. This fourth meeting is particularly important as it precedes the Eastern Partnership summit scheduled to be held in Riga in 2015, giving members the opportunity to prepare for the summit more effectively by discussing how to achieve the goals they have set themselves and current challenges.
Along with the session of foreign ministers, the informal Eastern Partnership dialogue also included a meeting on the issues of energy, which was attended by the Vice Premier of Georgia, Energy Minister, Mr Kakha Kaladze.
During the visit in Baku, the Georgian Foreign Minister will hold meetings with representatives of the Executive Authorities of Azerbaijan.
