Today, in the Administration of the Government State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alex Petriashvili held meeting with member of the European Parliament, rapporteur on Georgia Andrejs Mamikins, reports GHN based on the Ministry of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the ongoing issues of the EU-Georgia cooperation, including the importance of signature of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and creation of economic benefits as well as perspectives for Georgia. The State Minister informed the member of the European Parliament about the elaboration of the 2014 National Action Plan for the Implementation of the Association Agreement and Association Agenda and about the reforms envisaged by the Agreement. Alex Petriashvili underlined the significance of the support from EU Member States and Partner Countries in this process and once again reiterated Georgia's dedication towards one of its main foreign policy priority - the European Union membership.
The progress achieved in the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP) was also highlighted and the State Minister expressed hope to move forward to the 2nd phase of the VLAP in the near future.
On his part, Andrejs Mamikins noted the progress achieved by Georgia in various fields and stated that the European Parliament would proceed with the ratification of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement as soon as possible.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed current security challenges in the region, Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration process, and the outcomes of NATO Summit Wales 2014. Alex Petriashvili expressed his gratitude to Andrejs Mamikins for the continuation of the non-recognition policy towards the occupied territories.
