In 2015 additional financial resources will be allocated and regulation of teacher salary policy will be started; salaries of teachers will be increasing in next years too, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili stated at the conference of "teacher training, professional development and career growth", reports GHN based on Press Service of Prime Minister.
The head of the government informed teachers regarding the current reforms and innovations in education. According to him, current situation of the education system was thoroughly studied and a strategy for the development of education and science system was prepared. In his speech the Prime Minister also discussed the challenges the country is facing after signing the association agreement. According to him, for full integration in the European education space it is necessary to increase the education quality. "We make a serious investment in the field of education - since 2012 investments have been increased in education and science. We expect the greatest return exactly from this field," - Irakli Garibashvili stated.
The Prime Minister discussed the achieved results in terms of availability. According to his information, annual family cost for general education was reduced by 60 per cent as a result of implemented reforms; new schools are being built, more than 1000 schools were repaired, transport serves more than 50 thousand schoolchildren in villages; special services were established in public schools, such as service of psychologist, special teacher and now a doctor; inclusive education has become available. As regards higher education sector, the prime minister emphasized free education in 21 specialties and stated that it is necessary to develop particular sectors. "International education centre was established with my initiative where resources were consolidated to give the opportunity to as many youth as possible to get education abroad. The education centre has already financed the education of 77 students in leading universities of the world," -the Prime Minister noted.
He congratulated teachers on the coming school year and stated that professional teachers are able to bring up the future generation that will be realized and successful as much as possible.
The Prime minister expressed his hope that the new system of professional development of teachers will create a completely new perspective in country development sector, and the profession of teachers will be one of the prestigious.
After the end of the conference the Prime Minister of Georgia talked with teachers and listened to their opinion about the current reforms.
