At the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, the first High Technology and Innovation Development Center (Technology Park) will be built in Georgia that will create joint ecosystem in the direction of innovation and technology and promote the development of innovative ideas. The project is implemented by the Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The presentation of the Technology Park project held at the Exhibition Center ExpoGeorgia was attended by Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Economics and Sustainable Development.
As it was mentioned at the meeting, the creation of the first Technology Park is aiming at developing and increasing the number of small and medium-sized knowledge-based enterprises. The Technological Park also gives Georgia a unique opportunity to create the agencies of international companies and attract foreign investments.
"It is a very good opportunity for smart people to realize their talent and innovative potential. This center is being built according to the best international experience. The project unites the professionals that will exchange and commercialize innovative ideas. The Technology Park in one had will give the businesses an access to modern technologies and on the other hand, it will be an opportunity for talented people to commercialize their innovative ideas in large and popular high-technological international companies. I am going to China today to take part in the World Economic Forum. Within the framework of the forum, I will be having meetings with this type of companies and I will definitely talk with them about this new center and the issues for future cooperation"- Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.
The technology park will provide resources for start-up and small-sized companies that was not accessible before. It will play an important role in the creation of new companies, current business development, commercialization of innovations and creation of highly-paid jobs. The construction of the Technological Park is planned at the area of 18 000 m2 in Okrokana.
The high technology and Innovation Center consists of small incubators, as well as educational centers and laboratories, large offices for companies, co-work and recreation areas. The accelerator, training-centers and show-rooms, high technological incubator, universal laboratory of enterprise innovations, co-working center, conference room and other services will be functioning at the park. The above mentioned will promote the development of high technology industry. The Technology Park will provide such services for individual innovators, as well as for start-up companies and large international corporations.
It is worth mentioning that the first Technology Park was created in the USA, Silicon Valley, Stanford University in 1950. Currently, Technology Park is represented in 70 countries and provides services for about 200 000 companies.
