Police stepped up security in southern border areas, taking into account the potential risks posed by armed Transnistria, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
This was stated by Deputy Interior Minister Serhiy Chebotar.
"We discussed possibility of quartering, of the National Guard Brigade of volunteers and the police company "Bolhrad" in the town of Bolhrad, Odesa region, total of more than 100 people," the Interior Ministry press service quotes the official.
Chebotar noted that the matter concerns the threats that may arise on the part of Transnistria.
According to him, the quartering of the Interior Ministry units in Bolhrad will not only enhance protection of the Ukrainian border in the south, but "will return the faith of the local people that they will be protected." In addition, it will allow creating five hundred jobs in the city.
"All the issues on organization of the departments of law and order will be solved as soon as possible. Involved in this work will be representatives of the Odessa Regional State Administration, who take on the job of financing the project," the deputy minister said.
