The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia hosted a joint press-conference the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Mr Levan Kipiani, the Foreign Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze and the State Minister for Diaspora Issues, Mr Gela Dumbadze have held in connection with the rehabilitation programme developed for the Ukrainian children at the initiative of the Georgian Government, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministers provided mass media representatives with the detailed information on the aforesaid programme.
By decision of the Georgian Government, Georgia will offer vacation and rehabilitation course at the Anaklia Youth Camp to Ukrainian children, who have suffered from the current situation in Ukraine. A special 15-day social rehabilitation programme has been developed. On the 16th of September about 130 Ukrainian children and accompanying them persons will come from Ukraine to Georgia.
Both the Georgian Foreign Ministry and the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine were actively involved in this project.
Children were selected by the Ukrainian Ministry for Social Policy; the group included children, who lived in ATO zone and internally displaced children.
"In the frames of the humanitarian assistance programme, we have decided to lay special emphasis on children, since exactly they suffer most of all during hostilities. We have selected 130 from ATO zone and developed a two week programme for them. We hope that children will have a good time during this period", Ms Panjikidze said.
It should be also noted that by decision of the Georgian Government, Ukraine was provided with the assistance in the sphere of health protection as well. The Georgian Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs has sent by a cargo plane and on the 12th of September Ukraine received humanitarian assistance, mainly medicines and medical equipment, costing more than 924.000 GEL.
