UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon sent invitation concerning UN Climate Summit to the President of Georgia Giorgi Marglevashvili in February and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Margvelashvili in June, reports Rustavi 2.
With the information of TV Company UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon sent official invitation to the Giorgi Margvelashvili on February 25, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the administration of the President two months later on June 11 when the chief of the administration was Lasha Abashidze.
After this the President confirmed with official letter that he was going to receive invitation and to attend UN Climate Summit. After this on July 8 he received answer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the Prime Minister was going to attend UN Summit.
With the information of the TV Company the advisor of the President Tengiz Fkhaladze applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and explained the functions of the President that he has right to participate in such kind of event. After this Tengiz Fkhaladze also received from Davit Zalkanian official letter where there was written about the decision of the meeting of the government that the Prime Minister was going to attend UN Summit.
After this Fkhaladze applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 14 and was asking help from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange the visit of the President in USA and was explaining the role of the President in foreign affairs. Last letter in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was send in September 8 where Fkhaladze was asking to arrange the visit of the President but the President Margvelashvili declared that the visit was cancelled.
