The government of Ukraine is ready to finance the elections in some parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions only on the condition if they are open and democratic, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
"Elections will be recognized only if they are conducted in accordance with the norms and rules of international law. Otherwise, it is not a vote, but the legalization of bandits, we will not allow this," he said.
According to him, the Law of Ukraine on a special regime in Donbas provide that "municipal police must act in accordance with the laws of Ukraine." The government jurisdiction must be spread throughout the country and all law enforcement agencies.
"Nobody will allow legalizing the so-called terrorists of the "LPR" and the "DPR," at least, it is my political position. We did not fight for this," Yatseniuk said.
