Air Force Day is celebrated on September 19. Solemn ceremony to mark the Air Force Day was held on the Marneuli Air Field today, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
The first Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia Irakli Gegechkori congratulated the military personnel of the GAF on the professional day. Deputy Chief of General Staff of GAF Brigadier General Vladimer Chachibaia also addressed the military pilots and wished them successful career. Invited guests and military personnel of the Aviation Brigade held a minute of silence to honor the memory of the heroes fallen for the territorial integrity of Georgia and in peacekeeping operations. Military Band of the Defence Ministry performed the State Anthem. The Open Door Day was also arranged on the territory of the Marneuli Air Field. Invited guests and family members of the Brigade personnel could view the exhibited equipment. Air Force Day has been celebrated for the 22nd time this year. In the history of independent Georgia, former Air Force Commander Colonel Izani Tsertsvadze conducted the first flight with Su-25 on September 19, 1992.
