Up to 65% of Ukrainian military hardware has been destroyed since the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this in an interview with Ukrainian television channels on Sunday.
"I can tell you how many dozens of pieces of equipment come every day to military units to restore combat capability. I can say this, because it no longer exists. Some 60-65% of military hardware from the units that stood on the front lines has been destroyed. They had nothing to defend them with. Now they already have it," Poroshenko said.
He said that Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman was leading the work on the construction of fortifications, which will provide a solid line of defense.
Poroshenko added that due to this over the last two-and-a-half weeks there had been an opportunity for rotation and restoring combat readiness.
As reported, the anti-terrorist operation has been held Donbas since April 2014.
