The chaos seems to be descending in Kyrgyzstan. Aid has started arriving in the Kyrgyz city of Osh from organisations and private groups in the north of the country. It is aimed at those who have been unable to flee the violent ethnic clashes.
Many of the shops and businesses owned by Uzbeks along with their homes have been burnt down in the last week. The official death count is over a 180 with nearly 1900 wounded, Euronews reported.
Kyrgyzstan's interim leaders have been struggling to control inter ethnic tensions since the ousting of President Bakiyev in April.
UN refugee agencies estimate some 200,000 people have been displaced within Kyrgyzstan while 75,000 others have sought safety in neighbouring Uzbekistan.
But despite tales of horrifying brutality only the weak and vulnerable are being allowed across the border as here too international aid is urgently needed to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.
