The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili talked about reforms carried out in Georgia while delivering the speech in UN general assembly. As the Prime Minister stated that the government is oriented on taking care of the population of Georgia to improve their prosperity, reports GHN.
"My country is working on initiatives that are oriented on taking care of our population to improve the prosperity. Last year the most important event was launching the health program that provides for every citizen of Georgia with ambulatory, stationary and basic emergency medical services. Georgia also has comprehensive social protection strategy, the main emphasis is focused on the poor and vulnerable people to be protected from poverty. The solidarity fund that includes state and private sector will mobilize non budget recourses to support socially unprotected population. In December 2013 Georgian parliament made ratification of convention of rights of disabled people. In January 2014, the government adopted a new action plan to ensure equal rights of people with disabilities," stated Garibashvili.
As he stated the government of Georgia implemented several legislative and institutional initiatives to settle the sphere of human rights, including national strategy of human rights of 2014-2020, national action plan of human rights of 2014-2015 and adopting antidiscrimination law.
