Today the President of Georgia opened joint scientific conference of Friedrich Schiller University and Tbilisi State University "Problems of Antique Culture and its Heritage" in Tbilisi State University. Giorgi Margvelashvili delivered a speech and underlined the importance of antique culture and its role in the development of the society, reports GHN.
"I want to greet you scientists who keep alive, research and deeply explain those issues that still have importance and is still in connection with reality, influences on how we will develop as society, as culture. Researching those issues that is connected with Antique culture will help us to make right steps in future. For me the most important in this culture is the value of freedom. The social planning that brought antique epoch is the value that we try to move into our reality, and democracy is determined by it. Exactly the understanding of freedom of individual brought the society to this form of co-existence, to this form of the state," stated the President while delivering the speech.
From 1969 in Yen and Tbilisi there were held 9 such kind of conferences. The 10th conference in Tbilisi is held with the support of the administration of the President and Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Fund. In the frame of international scientific conference more than 100 researchers will read the reports. After the opening of the conference the President of Georgia visited Georgian Emigration Museum in Tbilisi State University.
