Ukrainian government forces have repelled an attack by terrorists near the village of Maloorlivka in Donetsk region.
National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Wednesday, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
"Near the village of Maloorlivka in Shakhtarsk district terrorists fired five times on a checkpoint with Grad systems, guns, mortars and tanks, and then began the storming. Ukrainian military returned fire and repulsed the attack," he said.
Lysenko said that the situation in the area of the anti-terrorist operation remains difficult. Ukrainian units observe the ceasefire, whereas terrorists continue provocations.
"Our checkpoints and positions were shelled in the Luhansk and Donetsk directions," he said.
He added that in the past 24 hours the NSDC had recorded a series of attacks on Donetsk Airport and near the town of Debaltseve.
