The newly composed city assembly of Tbilisi held its first meeting on Thursday. Debates were held between representatives of teh ruling party and the opposition at the meeting. Members of Christian Democratic Party disapproved the work done by the old composition of teh city assembly. They said they have seen no result during the last four years. Members of the National Council said it is necessary that chair of teh Inspection Commission be elected from an opposition party.
At the meeting today, chair s of eleven permanent commissions were elected. They will be taking care of the capital`s welfare. Two of the eleven positions were assumed by opposition members.
Zaal Samadashvili will be chairing the Tbilisi City Assembly again during the next four years. Mamuka Akhvlediani was appointed as the deputy chair of the assembly. As reported, Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava suggested that two more positions of deputy chairs of Tbilisi City Assembly be appointed, which would be assumed by opposition members.
The next meting of teh Tbilisi City Assembly will presumably be appointed in the next month.
