A workshop dedicated to Building Integrity (BI) and Reducing Risk of Corruption began in the hotel "Ambassador" Kachreti, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
Deputy Minister of Defence Tamar Karosanidze opened the training course and introduced its format to the participants. The Ministry of Defence provides an organizational support for the course. The civilian and military leadership of the MoD are taking part in the training. The goal of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with corruption risks in the defence sector and its prevention mechanisms. The representatives of the MoD, General Staff, commands and LEPLs will discuss BI, transparency and ethical standards meanwhile two days. The invited guests will share the best practice of NATO member and partner nations in these areas. The second day of the workshop will be dedicated to the discussion of BI action plan. The participants will focus on the priority directions and evaluate the progress of the implementation of the plan. Among the speakers of the workshop are the representatives from ministries of Defence, Justice and Finance as well as from NGOs. The NATO's Political Affairs and Security Policy Division representative Bénédicte Borel, NGO "International Transparency" UK Office representative Eva Anderson and Senior Advisor of Minister of Defence of Norway will also address the audience. The MoD of Georgia has been actively engaged in the NATO Building Integrity Program since 2013. Under it, implementation of special training programs for civilian and military personnel is of great importance aimed at raising awareness about BI and corruption risks.
