"In order to develop regional and local authorities, it is of utmost importance that the EU pays the special attention to the development of the Eastern Partnership countries in this regard, as well as to the cooperation with them. This conference, being regularly held is one of such mechanisms." - State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alex Petriashvili stated to the journalists about the 4th meeting of the CORLEAP, reports GHN based on the Ministry of European and Euro Atlantic Integration.
The State Minister addressed the participants of the meeting and emphasised the importance of the effective implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and the EU Integration Communication and Information Strategy of the Government of Georgia. Alex Petriashvili also underlined the necessity to deepen the regional cooperation in the framework of EaP and stressed the importance of supporting and sharing the best practices of the European partners in the process of implementation of self-government reforms.
The meeting is hosted by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG). The International Conference brings together successful regional and local authorities of 36 countries from the EU and EaP countries. At the 4th meeting, the participants discuss the ways to achieve the goals within the framework of EU-Georgia Association Agreement.
