Ongoing reforms in the Georgia`s defence field will assist the country`s defence capabilities, Robert Simmons said. The NATO Secretary General`s Special Representative fro the South Caucasus is taking part in the Georgian Defence Conference in Batumi town of seaside Adjara Region.
Experts are discussing NATO-Georgia relations, national security and ongoing reforms in the defence sphere at the meeting. They talked about Georgia`s significant role in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan. The two-day conference finished on Friday.
`I am here to attend what is an important event in the discussion of defence capabilities of Georgia and that`s this annual Defence Conference. Obviously, I want to take this opportunity to discuss with Defence Minister his own particular concerns. He has just come from the NATO defence ministers meeting. And we talked of course about Afghanistan. I thanked him for the contribution Georgia makes to the ISAF effort to Afghanistan`, Robert Simmons said.
