Georgian archaeologists suppose they have discovered the tomb of Tsotne Dadiani, Georgian nobleman of whom the medieval Georgian Chronicles relate a story of how Tsotne's self-sacrificing move saved his associates from the Mongol captivity and imminent death, and which made him into one of the most popular historical figures in Georgia and a saint of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The presumable tomb has been discovered in the Dadiani ancestral crypt of the church of Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Khobi town, Samegrelo Region. All historical sources consider the location as Tsotne Dadiani`s burial place.
The crypt was handed over to bishops, therefore scientists do not rule out possibility to find out tombs of clergymen there as well. The monastery was constructed in the 13th century, although the crypt belongs to the earlier period. Foreign experts are engaged in exploration of the significant discovery as well
