Heavy rains inflicted serious damage on Pankisi Gorge on Saturday night. Overflowing rivers burst banks and flooded four villages in Pankisi district. Poultry, sheep and goats were killed. Electric transmission lines and roads were damaged.
Patrol police were mobilised at the scene at midnight. The law enforcers evacuating the local population from the zone of disaster. About 80 families in total were affected by the natural disaster. A special commission has been created, which will count the damage inflicted on the district.
The natural disaster also hit Racha Region. Overflowing river destroyed a bridge and several cottages in the village of Glola.
