All points of the Ukrainian president's peace plan, including local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on December 7 and strict control by the OSCE mission over the border with Russia, must be fulfilled, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this in a joint statement to the press after a meeting with Austrian Federal Chancellor Werner Faymann on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"We reached an agreement that all points of the peace plan must be fulfilled, including strict control over the Ukrainian-Russian border with participation of the OSCE representatives who must ensure monitoring and verification of the ceasefire regime, the release of all hostages and the holding of elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on December 7," Poroshenko said.
He said that the main subject of discussion was de-escalation of the situation in some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk region and the implementation of his peace plan. The head of state thanked the Austrian government for participating in the OSCE mission and supplying for this mission unmanned aerial vehicles, "which will be able to monitor the ceasefire in certain parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions."
Faymann, in turn, said that his country supports the peace plan of the Ukrainian president, stressing the need to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. "Austria is always a good place for peace talks. Austria is a reliable partner for peace settlement and joint economic development," he said.
