The third part of the Special Mountain Battalion of the Georgian Armed Forces returned from Afghanistan to homeland, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
Special Mountain Battalion was serving at the Kandahar Air Base during six months. 148 military servicemen were welcomed back home by Commander of Special Operation Forces, LTC Dimitri Kiknadze at Alekseevka military aerodrome. He congratulated the soldiers on peaceful returning to homeland and expressed gratitude for successful fulfillment of ISAF mission. Under the U.S Command the Georgian military were carrying out the full spectrum of operations. Special Mountain Battalion returned home without suffering any casualties. All personnel of the battalion will arrive in Georgia in a few weeks.
