Five Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in Donbas over the past day.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Tuesday, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
"Five Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in the past 24 hours as a result of shelling. The number of those wounded is being specified," he said.
He said that the greatest number of attacks on Ukrainian military had been recorded near Debaltseve and Starohnativka in Donetsk region and near the town of Shchastia in Luhansk region. "Despite expectations of a truce regime, in the past 24 hours Russian mercenaries and terrorists continued shelling and attacking the positions of the anti-terrorist operation forces," he said.
In addition, other unsuccessful attacks were made on the Donetsk airport. "The issue concerns other attempts to attack the Donetsk airport, which terrorists shelled with artillery, Grad systems and tanks. Ukrainian troops returned fire and terrorists suffered losses," Lysenko said.
Now Russian mercenaries do not stop the attacks.
