Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze paid a visit to the Federal Republic of Germany On 22 June 2010.
In the frames of the visit, the meetings with Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Guido Westerwelle and Minister of State in the Federal Chancellery Eckart von Klaeden were held.
At the meetings, the sides discussed the topical issues of the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany. The German side expressed its satisfaction over the current stable and developing economic situation in Georgia and gave high assessment to the local elections held on 30 May in Georgia. At the meetings, the sides also discussed in details the current situation on the occupied territories of Georgia, the State Strategy on the Occupied Territories, Georgia's relations with the EU and its participation in the "Eastern Partnership" Initiative and other regional issues.
At the meetings, the German side reaffirmed its support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In the frames of the visit, the meetings at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation were held. The sides focused on Georgia's policy towards the occupied territories of Georgia and the ongoing democratic reforms in the country. The meeting at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation was also attended by representatives of Friedrich Naumann, Heinrich Böll and Konrad Adenauer Foundations.
