Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukrainian troops will remain in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas this winter, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
He said this in his address to the nation on Sunday.
"We also focus on preparations for this winter, because now no one can talk about the return of our troops from the area of the anti-terrorist operation to the sites of their permanent deployment," Poroshenko said.
He said that despite the optimistic reports of security forces regarding the winter maintenance of the ATO forces, real problems were still significant.
"A lot is being done, and we recognize that, but a lot more needs to be done. Of course, we cannot organize subtropical weather in the trenches, but soldiers must be dressed and heated in winter," he said.
