The Minister of Corrections Giorgi Mgebrishvili represented the reform of the corrections system to the representatives of non-governmental organizations and media, reports GHN.
Concretely the corrections system moves to the new modern, effective management model that means integration of the department with the Ministry under full subordination.
There will be changed social and juridical guarantees of collaborators, at the same time the reform will not lead to the reduction of stuff. With the aim to improve management and security standard till the 2016 September the personnel of the corrections system will be trained and selected new staff will start to work only after special training course.
The reform also takes into account transition of the security services of the ministry to modern methodology and standards.
There are planned modernization of social service, implementation and development of re-socialization and rehabilitation projects for prisoners.
"I hope that reform that we had begun will be successful and will restore trust towards system. Our wish is the reform to provide with improvement of security standard of the corrections facility, increasing of qualification of collaborators and rehabilitation of prisoners," stated Giorgi Mgebrishvili.
For the implementation of the reform there was prepared package of legislative changes that will be represented to the Parliament in new future that takes into account changes in nearly 30 law.
While working on the reform there was considered modern international practice, also recommendations of public defender and non-governmental organizations.
