Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has confirmed the dismantling of field camps of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border and the beginning of their deployment to their home bases.
The spokesman for the center's information and analytical center, Andriy Lysenko, said this at a briefing on Monday, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
"We have information that those military units that arrived to the border with Ukraine and were in field camps in Russia are now moving or return to their home bases," Lysenko said.
He said that the withdrawal of regular military units from Ukraine's border was a positive process, which however does not influence the additional sending of mercenaries trained in Russian field camps to Ukraine through uncontrolled border sections.
"We see progress in the fact that such groups are not as numerous as they were before, and the real withdrawal of military units, especially aircraft and armored vehicles, from Ukraine's border is a positive process that influences the easing of tensions in the region," Lysenko said.
