The Mayor of Tbilisi Davit Narmania and the members of the delegation Giorgi Tkemaladze and Davit Jikia visit Strasbourg. In the frame of the visit they met secretary general of congress of local and regional governments Andreas Kaifer and head of monitoring group Jos Vienen, reports GHN.
On the meeting Davit Narmania paid attention on the local self-government elections, about reforms of local-government. As he said the local elections was carried out unprecedentedly transparently and in a competitive space that was mentioned and underlined in the resolution of monitoring group of the congress.
As secretary general of local and regional governments of the congress Andreas Kifer said on the 27th session of congress the most important issues in different countries among them in Georgia is local elections. "We will listen to the report of committee of monitoring that observed elections in Georgia. Also there will be held debates. After the discussions there will be recommendations for government and Parliament of Georgia to improve existing standard," stated Andreas Kiffer.
"Local self-government elections were held on high level, the progress in the organization of the elections is obvious. However we have several recommendations - the situation between political parties is tensed that's why our recommendation is to deepen relations. One of our recommendations is to maintain political balance in elections administration," stated the head of monitoring group Jos Vienen.
