October 15 Batumi port visited one of the biggest cruise ship "MS Thomson Celebration". On the large American-Dutch liner there are nearly 1800 passengers. The cruise ships will be served by touristic company Adjara Tour. Till the end of the day the tourists will see Batumi places and will learn about local cuisine and folklore, reports GHN.
With the information of Adjara tourism and resort department from 2014 January will today in Batumi came 26 ships and as a result of this 14 720 foreigners visited the region. In the same period of last year Batumi visited 16 ships with 5162 passengers. Indifferent from 2013 in the direction of cruise tourism Batumi visited 3 times more tourists.
It must be marked that statistics of cruise tourism shows tendency for growth. If in 2012 the region visited nearly 10 cruise ships, in 2013 the number grew till 16, in 2014 there came nearly 30 cruise ships. The most big ships were "Riviera" (1150 tourists + 750 crew member, July 24), "Seven Seas Mariner" (750 tourists+445 crew members, August 14), "Prinsendam" (800 tourists _ 400 crew members, October 13) and "Thomson Celebration" (1250 tourists+550 crew members, October 15).
