On the 15th of October 2014, the Georgian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between the Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Davit Zalkaliani and the United States Deputy Ambassador in Georgia, Mr Nicholas Berliner, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two focused on the dynamics of the Geneva International Talks process; on the current challenges; and on other aspects connected with this process. Mr Zalkaliani and Mr Berliner discussed also other issues of bilateral co-operation.
Talking points also included Russia's enhanced activities towards Abkhazia, which was demonstrated in development of the so-called Draft Agreement on Alliance and Integration between Moscow and Sokhumi.
In this connection the two focused on the importance of international community's active involvement; and on the need to avoid the escalation of situation in Georgia's occupied territories and to promote the strengthening of security and stability in the region.
During the meeting, Mr Berliner reaffirmed his Government's strong support for Georgia's territorial integrity as well as for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
