A stable regime of the ceasefire is a prerequisite for further peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine's east, in particular, creation of a buffer zone, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing Wednesday, answering questions about creation of the buffer zone in the east.
"All further steps within the frames of implementation of the Minsk agreements may be realized only when prerequisites for this will be fulfilled. A prerequisite is a ceasefire regime," Perebyinis said.
He stressed that the Ukrainian side strictly observes this regime. At the same time, according to him, terrorists and illegal armed groups in Ukraine's east do not stop shelling Ukrainian positions.
"Therefore, I think that as soon as the stable ceasefire regime is established, it will be possible to speak about further steps in the process of peaceful settlement," the diplomat stressed.
