The State Commission of Support New Psychoactive Substances Distribution Prevention held its fifth meeting at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Commission is staffed with the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labour, Healthcare and Social Protection. Meeting was also attended by the expert-narcologist Zurab Sikharulidze, who provided commission members with information on the decrease of the consumption of the so called "bio" drugs after enacting of law on "New Psychoactive Substances". Commission members submitted information on the recent situation in connection with illegal circulation of Psychoactive Substances in Georgia. It was stated that relevant legislation is being implemented effectively and situation in terms of illegal circulation of Psychoactive Substances, is stable, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the information presented by MIA representatives "bio" drugs seized by the agency belongs to those types of drugs against which the new law on "New Psychoactive Substances" is effective, which one again proves that the law was enacted successfully. According to the representative of the Ministry of Finances after introduction of the law border control has become stricter with regard to Psychoactive Substances which resulted in reduction of the flow of such drugs to Georgia. Such drugs were smuggled to Georgia by means of the postal shipments which is very rare now.
The members of the Commission also reviewed the changes project of the new law on "New Psychoactive Substances" which is aimed to effective respons on new challenges connected with above mentioned substances. Presentation of new web page of drug policy was also made at the meeting which is placed on official website of MIA. The new page includes Information about state drug policy and also work of the State Commission . It should be underlined that there is access to the list of New Psychoactive Substances which will support effective combat against illegal circulation of drug and coordinate work of relevant agencies.
