On the 15th of October 2014, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze took part in a coordination meeting held at the Guram Tavartkiladze University within the frames of the TEMPUS project aimed at facilitating the development of cruise tourism in the Black Sea region and the setting of a competence centre in this area, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In her address the Minister focused on the importance of such projects for the economic and social development of Georgia emphasizing the changes enacted by the Georgian Authorities that have been designed to promote innovative projects in the country and to highlight Georgia as a reliable partner in the international community.
The project for the development of cruise tourism involves, along with the Guram Tavartkiladze University, fifteen higher education institutes of Germany, Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia and Ukraine, as well as the National Tourism Administration, the Ajarian Department of Tourism and Resorts, the Association of Batumi as well as Black and Azov Sea Ports and tourist companies.
