With the decision of the general director of UNESCO Irina Bokova famous Georgian pianist Eliso Bolkvadze will be awarded with the rank of "UNESCO Artist for Peace," reports GHN.
It must be said that this is first case in the history of Georgia when the rank of UNESCO is given to the candidate represented by Georgia.
"UNESCO Artists for Peace" are famous persons who act in the field of culture and who are ready to use their name and status for popularization of the values and main aims of the organization. Mostly they are famous people who have big merit in development of the spheres that are in competence of UNESCO.
Eliso Bolkvadze was given this high rank not only for her professionalism but also for active charity activity in different corners of the world, especially her support of young talented musicians with the help of the fund "Lyra."
The candidacy of Eliso Bolvadze was represented to UNESCO by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, President of UNESCO national commission Maia Panjikidze in July this year.
The official awarding ceremony will be held in the main office of UNSECO in Paris. The Minister of the Foreign Affairs Maia Panjikidze talked musician by phone and congratulated her important success and promised her support in her activity.
Today the rank of "UNESCO Artist for Peace" carries 54 artist of the world. Between them are famous figures Joaquin Cortes, Celine Dion, Vladimer Spivakov, Danilo Peres, Marcus Miller and others.
