Representatives of the prestigious European School of Oncology (ESO) of Milan, Italy, are today in Tbilisi for a second training course on cancer medicine. The two-days training takes place at the Medical University of Georgia and targets 68 oncologists from 14 countries, many of them from Georgia. It is provided by experts of ESO of different nationalities, included 7 Italians. All the experts come from prestigious institutions and have a specific, deep experience in the field of their lectures, reports GHN.
The host of the event is Prof. Rema Gvamichava of the Georgian Society of Clinical Oncology in partnership with the Medical University.
The training is on gastrointestinal cancers and is completely sponsored by ESO with the support of the Italian Embassy in Georgia.
ESO is also cooperating with the National Screening Institute of Tbilisi.
The European School of Oncology was founded in Italy in 1982, with the aim of contributing to the reduction of deaths from cancer, due to late diagnosis and/or inadequate treatment. By improving the skills of all health professionals dealing with cancer patients, ESO helps shorten the time needed to transfer knowledge from research center to daily practice, combining advanced technology with humane in care.
After more than 30 years, ESO is the oldest and most structured organization exclusively dedicated to increasing the knowledge of health professionals in all fields of cancer medicine, under the auspices of an international scientific committee and advisory board.
The School has more than 50 staff members based at offices in Milan, Bellinzona, Cairo and Moscow, supporters from all over the world, including 1000 lecturers and experts and more than 20,000 alumni.
