The elections for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine could become a new basis for resolving the crisis in Ukraine, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
UN chief spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said this at a briefing in New York on Monday.
"We very much hope that the parliamentary elections will be a step forward in bringing political reconciliation in Ukraine," he said.
As reported, the UN and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon have repeatedly expressed concern about the continuation of hostilities in eastern Ukraine. According to recent reports by the organization, over 3,700 people were killed and over 9,000 were injured in the conflict.
