Azerbaijan is one of the most important countries to supply Nabucco pipeline with gas, said Managing Director of the Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH Reinhard Mitschek at a briefing held today.
He stressed "Nabucco offers unique opportunity for Azeri gas to reach European markets. And Azerbaijan, on the other hand, is a very important gateway to other countries and supply sources in Central Asia, like for example for Turkmenistan."
Mr. Mitschek said "We welcome very much the agreements which we reached between Azerbaijan and Turkey, recently."
He noted "the final investment decision will be taken at the end of this year, the construction will start at the end of 2011 and first gas will go through Nabucco to Turkey and to European consumers at the end of 2014.
He underlined "We know that we will not start the pipeline transportation with the full load of capacity with 31 bln cubic meters, we will start most likely with a quantity between 10-15 bln cubic meters and with those volumes we are already in profitable stage".
The meeting was also attended by Head Communication and Public Affairs of Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH Christian Dolezal.
