2017 will be announced as a year of Germany-Georgia, on this issue was made agreement on the meeting between the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze in Berlin. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia pays working visit in Federal Republic of Germany, reports GHN.
On the meeting that was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany the sides discussed issues of collaboration. There were underlined friendly and partnership relations between two countries that became more active last time. On the meeting became known that next year Georgia will visit high rank officials from Federal Republic of Germany: together with chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel Georgia will visit Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs and Federal Minister of Economic Relations; there are also planed to held visit of delegation of German businessmen in Georgia.
"In 2017 there is 200th anniversary from foundation of German villages in Georgia. To commemorate this date we agreed that 2017 will be announced as a year of friendship of Georgia and Germany. German side is interested to finish in Georgia construction of German school and there are planned important events to celebrate this day," stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
With the information of Maia Panjikidze the Ministries of Foreign Affairs also took the decision to form new package of collaboration between Germany and Georgia.
"Taking into account the dialogue between two countries we agreed to work on new format of collaboration that will adequately express intensive relations between two countries and contains political, economic, military and also cultural issues," stated Maia Panjikidze.
On the meeting with Frank-Walter Steinmeier the sides also talked about process of integration of Georgia in European and Euro Atlantic structures. There was marked that deepening of relations of Germany-Georgia has special importance in the context of implementation of Association Agreement with European Union and essential package of NATO. "We agreed that Germany should be the leader country on the way in European integration," stated after the meeting Maia Panjikidze. She paid special attention to the events on occupied territories and concretely the new project of agreement of alliance and integration offered by Russia to Abkhazian de facto regime.
