Within the framework of her working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze was invited to the Guido Westerwelle Foundation.
Maia Panjikidze held a meeting with the Westerwelle Foundation's Secretary General, Mr Hans-Jürgen Beerfeltz, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Discussions focused on the Foundation's activities and on its plans for the future. The Secretary General emphasized that the Foundation's main goal is to promote the development of the middle class in various countries of the world and that the Foundation is interested in co-operation with Georgia. "We take a great interest in Georgia. And we are sure that where there is middle class, developed democracy and the rule of law there is a serious potential for the development of this class. There are few countries that can claim to have achieved the progress as great as Georgia within such a short period of time" - Hans-Jürgen Beerfeltz noted.
The Georgian Foreign Minister invited the Secretary General and representatives of the Westerwelle Foundation to Georgia. Guido Westerwelle who was unable to attend the meeting due to illness, phoned Maya Panjikidze and thanked her personally for her visit to the Foundation.
