The first meeting of the Interagency Group on Violence is held in the Government Administration by the Prime Minister of Georgia, reports GHN based on press service of the Prime Minister.
Irakli Garibashvili instructed the heads of the structures, included in the Interagency Group, to develop the action plan and take the complex measures. According to him, the Ministry of Justice works on changing the composition of the Commission on Domestic Violence. In this regard, the Prime Minister urged the Minister of Justice to speed up the processes.
According to the decision of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will present the Overall National Strategy to Prevent Violence to the public in the near future. The Ministry of Education was instructed to develop the educational programs. Irakli Garibashvili urged the state structures to work in coordination with the public representatives and non-governmental sector.
"Engage all specialists, international and non-governmental organizations, those working on domestic violence, women rights and social inclusion. And what is more, again, inform our community and engage it in the processes," - the Prime Minister noted.
According to his explanation, the reasons of the domestic violence require complex research.
"What is happening now needs complex research. This contradicts with our legislation, our traditions and our religion. It is a fact that violence gives birth to the violence, aggression - to the aggression. After the seen, heard or overcome torture, murder, persecution and repression, it is not surprising that we are dealing with the psychological problems as well," - Irakli Garibashvili stated before the meeting.
The first Interagency Group meeting is attended by the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education, the Head of Government Administration and the Deputy Head of Government Administration.
