Today, at the Administration of the Government, State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alex Petriashvili held meeting with the members of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, reports GHN based on the Ministry of European and Euro Atlantic Integration.
The parties discussed the current issues related to Georgia's EU integration. The meeting was focused on the implementation of the reforms envisaged by the Association Agreement. The significance of the EU Member States assistance in this regard was underlined. The discussions also touched upon the preparations and expectations for the upcoming Riga Eastern Partnership Summit in 2015.
Representatives of Czech side reaffirmed the readiness of the Government of the Czech Republic to timely proceed with the ratification of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement. They call on other EU Member States to accelerate this process. The progress achieved by Georgia was also emphasised. The Czech MPs stated that the meetings held during the visit made it clear that on the way to the EU integration, Georgia is the undisputed leader among the EaP countries.
During the meeting, attention was paid to the existing security situation in the region. In particular, it was stressed that the signing of "the Agreement on Alliance and Integration" between Russian Federation and Abkhazia is the attempt to annex Abkhazia and is the challenge for NATO, the EU and international community.
