The United States is closely watching the trial against former officials in Georgia and reminds the government of the country that juridical system shouldn't used for political aims,- stated the official representative of USA state department Jen Psak who at the request of journalists made comment about verdict of ex-minister Bachana Akhalaia, reports GHN.
"We still draw attention to the government of Georgia on the protection of law and procedural norms and study the transparency of the issue to avoid the fact that juridical system to be used for political retribution," stated American diplomat. She reminded to the journalists that US was expressing concern towards court cases and there is still reason to be concerned."
Also Jen Psak stated that she doesn't want to talk about separate cases because every case has specifics. "But there were whole series of verdicts and that's why we expressed our concern." "We support democratic development of Georgia that is expressed in respect of pluralism and open debates."
