Vice Premier Kakha Kaladze responds to the statement of US state department and states that their assessment is normal, because America is watching the situation in Georgia, reports GHN.
"They are watching the current events in the country, court trials and this is normal. Our interest is also everything to be transparent to avoid questions that these cases are political cases as our opponents "National Movement" want it to be. USA is closely watching court cases against former officials in Georgia and reminds the government of the country that juridical system shouldn't be used for political aims," stated official representative of US state department Jen Psak.
"We still draw attention to the government of Georgia on the protection of law and procedural norms and study the transparency of the issue to avoid the fact that juridical system to be used for political retribution," stated American diplomat. She reminded to the journalists that US was expressing concern towards court cases and there is still reason to be concerned." Also Jen Psak stated that she doesn't want to talk about separate cases because every case has specifics. "But there were whole series of verdicts and that's why we expressed our concern." "We support democratic development of Georgia that is expressed in respect of pluralism and open debates."
