Minister of Defence of Georgia visited the Wildflecken Military Base under an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany. Minister visited the Georgian military contingent going through pre-deployment preparation for the Afghanistan mission, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
Minister Alasania addressed the Georgian servicemen and thanked them for the contribution provided for the sake of the national interests: "I`d like to welcome all of you. It is impressive that you have gained such a significant experience with the support of our German partners. The mission in that you are going to engage is of utmost significance for the security of our country. Participation in this mission side by side with the German contingent promotes our country`s image. By taking part in the mission Georgia will become known to other countries too. It won`t be exaggerated to say that what you did and are doing now is the basis of the success we have achieved at the NATO Wales Summit when Georgia adopted NATO-Georgia Substantial Package. We also go forward towards NATO and EU integration. You are doing much not only in terms of defence of your country but you are providing an important contribution in the foreign policy arena. I also want to thank your families for their patience and support on your way to the military operation. I am certain that you will take care of yourself. The technique and the new tactical skills you have acquired will enable you to perform the mission effectively and to return home peacefully. I know how difficult it is to serve so far from your families in one of the hot places as Afghanistan during months. Majority of you have already served in missions and obtained useful knowledge and experience. Thank all of you once again.
I`d like to avail this opportunity and to thank our German friends to allow us to undergo such high-level training together with them. I want to thank General and Commander on behalf of the whole Georgia for their support during the training. We are awaiting you in Georgia. You will come back home for a certain period and then we will see you off to the mission. I`d like to thank your Commander, all of you because you are contributing a lion`s share to the success of your country and to the international security. I am happy that I was given the opportunity to visit and encourage you and to say that that we are proud of you.
